“Grand Vin” from Barbabecchi vineyard at 910m. asl. Planted around 1910 and North-North East exposed, capturing the first and cool morning sun rays. This pure Nerello Mascalese from ungrafted old vines makes a profound wine, rich as well as elegant, with character, personality and great finesse and is produced only in great vintages where phenolic ripeness is achieved.
A very complete wine. Textual and complex with deep red fruit flavours alongside notes of pepper, pomegranate, anise and violets. Smooth and balanced on the palate with great depth and a fresh finish. The fruit is incredibly rich and pure in its youth.
While this wine ages well it really is very compelling as it is. Pure and rich and primary.
