Augustiatis, a rare Zakynthian variety. Deep ruby color, with crimson highlights. Airy, elegant floral nose of red fruit, showing poppies intertwining spicy-peppery with plums and cherries. Leather, herbal and mineral tones creep in. Delicious and distinctive on the fleshy, mildly full palate, with fresh acidity validating the cool red, floral fruit, while a chocolate underpinning in the spicy frame rounds them out. Good job on the tannins, of satisfactory composition and structure, while the leather elements take on a slightly more animalic dimension, without registering it as immediately rustic. Botanical points are sufficiently distinct, and the mineral grid gives lightness. Good, mineral, chocolaty and spicy aftertaste, with green pepper and herbs, and a sharp, tannic burst, distracting from the very light animal element.
