Maalox is an oral suspension containing magnesium and aluminium hydroxide (as an algeldrate) as antacids drugs. It has a potent ability to neutralise gastric acid and a protective effect on the oesophageal, gastric and duodenal mucous membranes.

It is indicated in:
Symptomatic treatment of:
Heartburn
Gastro-oesophageal reflux disease (rise of gastric content in the oesophagus) in adults above 15 years old.
Inflammation of the stomach (gastritis).
Lowering the amount of acid in your stomach or gut (intestine) when you have an ulcer
Instructions for use
Always take Maalox exactly as directed in the patient information leaflet or ask your doctor or pharmacist if you are unsure how to take this medicine.
Shake the bottle well before use.
Maalox is intended for adults and adolescents from the age of 15.
Dosage
Oral suspension in a bottle: 1 tablespoon (10 ml) to treat heartburn and food reflux.
Do not take a double dose to make up for a forgotten dose.
Duration of administration
Do not take more than 6 tablespoons a day.
Do not use on more than 10 consecutive days.
Warning
DO NOT use this product:
If you are allergic to aluminium hydroxide, magnesium hydroxide or any of the other ingredients of this medicine.
If you have acute renal impairment.
Precautions:
Tell your doctor or pharmacist:
If you have lost weight.
If you are taking other medicines or supplements.
If you have swallowing difficulty or a persistent stomach pain.
