Paul Perarnau and Willy Roulendes became friends while working together at Clos du Moulin aux Moines in the Côte d’Or. Their paths diverged when Paul decided to move to Provence, but they couldn’t be kept apart – they started AMI (friend, geddit?) together and produced their first vintage in 2014. They own 2.5 hectares in the Maranges Valley and also purchase grapes from their friends in Chablis, Côte d’Or and Beaujolais. All the fruit they use comes from vineyards that are either certified organic or in the process of becoming so, and the wines are unfiltered, with little or no added sulfites.
A co-ferment of Riesling and Gewuztraminer on skins for 1 year in concrete egg. The fellas from AMI venture out of their home turf into Alsace for this expressive number. Orange tinted, spice driven and lightly bitter. It's a stunner.
