The fantastic Thierry Valette began producing this bold - by Bordeaux standards - wine in 2008. La Cuvée Bistrot is the exact opposite of the Bordeaux obsession with intensity and concentration: delicate, elegant, gently extracted, on point more reminiscent of Loire or Beaujolais in style. Here you don't get the typical Bordeaux style as 'compensation' - hence it is sold as a simple Vin de France - but you gain generously in enjoyment, immediacy and freshness. In the region's oligarchy and obsession with its past, wines like La Cuvée Bistrot are an opening to the younger generation and make Bordeaux seem more accessible and youthful in their eyes. A style full of energy and freshness that can be drunk immediately, a real “vin de soif” as the French would say.
