In China and other countries of Southeast Asia, the celebration of Lunar New Year represents a magnificent festival full of joy and laughter, fireworks, lanterns, good food and family reunions.🏮 It is a time of new beginnings and welcoming spring season. This year, the start of the lunar year falls on January 22, which is also the day the tiger passes its crown to the rabbit 🐰 – the symbol of peace, harmony and prosperity. This year is special, though, as it is one of the two years in the 12–year cycle that Vietnam celebrates a different animal than other ocuntries. For the symbol of the Vietnamese new year 2023 is the intelligent and sensitive cat. 🐱 However, no matter if we celebrate the rabbit or the cat, the festivities are not complete without some proper Asian treats. Traditional Vietnamese dishes for this occasion include the rice cake bánh chưng, popular nem rán rolls or a plate of “five–coloured” fried vegetables rau xào ngũ sắc (each colour represents one earth element). Join us in celebrating Southeast Asia's biggest event with delicacies from our Chinese, Vietnamese and Japanese restaurants 👇
