Konditorei & Café Pursche, founded in 1860 by Josef Pursche, is by far the oldest café in Holtenauer Straße and is one of the best-known cafés in Kiel. It has been at its current location since 1952 and is now run by the seventh generation of the family. In 2015, Farah Khoshfekran took over the café and brought new ideas to the art of confectionery. The Persian chocolate cream cake is the most popular cake in the house, and the Baumkuchen, which is made in-house all year round, is one of the highlights. In addition to cakes, chocolates, petit fours and pastries, the café is a popular venue for birthday parties, weddings, company celebrations and funerals.
