To celebrate, we would like to give you a little insight into who is behind these amazing burgers. In the following interview, we'll reveal what makes a burger a Project, what the founders' secret favourites are, and what makes their burger-shaped hearts beat. Enjoy! 💙 ✨Where did the name "The Burger Project" come from? The founders of the Burger Project have set out to create the perfect burger. They set the bar high and we're happy with the results. As one of Újpest's outstanding burger makers, you'll find quality angus smashed burgers on their menu, now exclusively on Wolt. To celebrate, we would like to give you a little insight into who is behind these amazing burgers. Back in the early days of business planning, we used to refer to the business amongst ourselves as #burgerproject - which stuck. The project is about making the perfect burger (perfect for us) and, as we advertise ourselves, we believe in it. ✨What do you think the perfect burger is like? Burgers were classically designed to be eaten one-handed while driving in the US, so we believe in a good-sized burger made with the finest ingredients. We think the bun should be buttery soft and the patty should be crumbly. With few toppings, so that the complexity of flavours and meat-to-bun ratios are not taken in any one direction. ✨What makes you different from other restaurants? We make all our own sauces, and the meat and buns come fresh to us every day. A unique flavour has been created through the use of special quality ingredients, there is no compromise on the ingredients and how they are discovered and sourced. For example, in recent months we have changed meat suppliers because we have found better than the high quality meat (used by the big ones). ✨How do you prepare your burgers to make them as fresh and tasty as possible? In addition to the freshness of the ingredients mentioned above, the most important thing is that we only start making burgers at the moment we receive the order. It's a bit like asking for a glass of wine in the restaurant and having grapes in the kitchen. At our place, our couriers also wait for a minimal time at best, but they rarely arrive to pick up a dish that is already prepared and kept warm. ✨Are there vegetarian and/or vegan options on the menus? We have followed our policy there too, to only include items that match our expectations and bring the same level of quality as any of our burgers. It was a serious challenge to find the best ingredients in this segment as well, which is why we have three types of meat substitute patties (bean, beet and soy based). Our buns are all vegan, meaning it's up to the sauce whether you make your burger vegan. ✨We saw that you had a special campaign called #thedestinationproject, can you tell us a little bit about it? It was a big dilemma when we opened, we had to set the number of items on the menu somewhere. With many new trends in burgers around the world, we want to guide our customers towards new flavours/destinations. Every month we try to create an exciting, unusual and unique burger. ✨Are you planning anything similar in the near future? We're in a similar boat with desserts, where we're thinking about something you can't get at any corner. And we want to give you something so special, that at the end of the day, you'll say, wow, that was cool. We've put together a concept for it and we'll start rolling it out soon. ✨What is your favourite burger among your guests? Which is your secret favourite? There's a lot of rivalry between Classic and Project. We see that these two are tried by everyone who comes in, but we also see that our customers are increasingly opening up to newer, more exciting items. Perhaps I've already said, our favourites are Baconnaise, Tuscany, Crispy Bird, for example. The funny thing is that everyone's favourite is something different from what's on the menu, with a different sauce or a different meat, for example. ✨What do you consider your greatest success so far? Hearing and reading back from people close to us and complete strangers that this is considered the tastiest/best burger in Budapest. Despite this, we still managed to keep the basic concept and maintain the most important goal, our quality standards. I think our customers appreciate this. We are constantly improving, trying to create something of value and give something back to Újpest, the city where we grew up. ✨What are your goals for the future? Expansion, but not at any price. We would like to open new unit(s) in a slightly larger but also prominent location. We are also thinking about franchising to reach more people. The Újpest unit in its current form only has one last major improvement to make, we will be winterizing our terrace this fall, because luckily it is now in high enough demand to seat 8-10 people at a time. ✨Why did you choose Wolt as your exclusive delivery partner? Since opening, we have used the two major delivery platforms in parallel and this time was just enough for us to gain some experience. The exclusive partnership was the result of a thoughtful, conscious and carefully planned decision on our part. We want to continue to strive for premium quality in home deliveries and we believe that only Wolt can offer us this service in the market at the moment and because we have an outstanding relationship with Wolt, we get a lot of help from them in the form of support in marketing. We look forward to this cooperation with optimism.
