Role background

Wolt is a Finnish technology company and until recently, we’ve been best known for our food delivery platform. However, food delivery was just the start. We don’t want to just satisfy our customers’ hunger, but to deliver a wide variety of products and expand our platform to some cool retail shops, supermarkets, flowers, toys, and other exciting products, all referred to as Retail. We launched our services in Hungary a few years back and have since been conquering the food and retail delivery scene step by step.

We are now looking for a motivated Retail Partnership Team Lead to join our team and manage a team of Retail Partnership Managers and Associates and take the ownership of the commercial activities in the country. A large part of the role is managing a sales team that is among the best performing ‘Woltwide’. They already have high standards and expectations of themselves, they need a leader that can not only embrace this, but help to push them onto the next level!

As such, you’ll need to be the sales expert that can identify and introduce ways to work more effectively, help the team to overcome challenges and also get stuck in with some hands-on client management. This role will build and lead the team that is responsible for the acquisition of top selection in Hungary, and collaborate with the Retail Development Team Lead to create a seamless onboarding experience for these merchants.

Reporting into the Retail Business Manager, you’ll create the commercial strategy together and plot the roadmap for our continued growth in Hungary. Existing experience in the retail industry would be beneficial, as would expertise in data-driven decision making; understanding our customers and working through tasks efficiently are both crucial in this position.

To succeed in this role, you need to have both good people and motivational skills and an analytical understanding of our biggest retail partners. You must also be a team player and willing to chip in with tasks outside of the day-to-day - it’s important that we keep the ‘hands on’ ethos that has made our team what it is!
 

What you’ll be doing

  • Developing and executing a plan for the sales team to target gaps and opportunities within their market. This includes identifying retail merchants that are a great fit for Wolt, as well as mapping out potential new areas for expansion
  • Contacting and building relationships with potential key retail partners, and systematically managing the market’s sales pipeline
  • Mapping out and selling our digital solutions to potential customers, identifying how our systems and processes can support partner systems, and jointly identifying the most beneficial integration pathways
  • Conducting negotiations regarding key partner terms, and understanding potential venue performance to set profitable business terms
  • Making sound business decisions by supporting intuition with data, working with partners to increase basket size and order frequency
  • Leading, recruiting and hiring our superstar retail sales acquisition team of Retail Partnership Managers and Associates, setting team’s KPIs, managing sales performance and providing performance feedback
  • Creating a positive work environment that enables the team to develop
  • Working closely together with the marketing team to plan and execute campaigns together with retail chains
  • Leading by example in terms of demonstrating Wolt values and behaviors

Our humble expectations

  • You have demonstrable experience of being successful within a sales position, a natural ‘hunters’ also possess excellent communication and networking skills
  • You have extensive people management, leadership or coaching experience, ideally within field sales
  • Experience from within the retail or FMCG industry is an advantage, or a deep understanding of the on-demand delivery tech market and our competitors.
  • Excellent analytical skills - such as translating data into actions, or analysing sales metrics and producing relevant KPIs.
  • Passion for sales and networking, with strong local connections.
  • Fluent in Hungarian and English
