In December 1996, after the death of his father Frank (1925-1996), Bezzina started to delve into all the war documents that his father, an authority on the Second World War in Gozo, had left behind. He was particularly set on the enlargement and the amalgamation of the two books about wartime Gozo which his father had published way back in 1977 and in 1981. The result was the publication in 2000 of the thick tome Il-Qilla tal-Gwerra Fuq Għawdex 1940 – 1943, which is a must for all those who want to know more about Gozo during the war. Many Maltese historians have regarded and classified this resounding success of his book about wartime Gozo, Bezzina took it upon himself to interview a number of Gozitans appositely about their own wartime experiences, and these interesting reminiscences were collected in the book Meta Karbet is-Sirena, published in 2003. In 2004, Bezzina published The Gozo Airfield, in which he expounded on the construction and the use of the Gozo Airfield during Operation Husky in 1943. Such was the success of this book that it was reprinted in 2008. In 2006 he published Il-Vittmi Għawdxin tat-Tieni Gwerra, in which he identified and recorded the details of all the Gozitan victims of the Second World War, irrespective where they died, at home, abroad or at sea.
