Grape: Nerello Mascelese, Nerello Cappuccio, Nocera and Nero D'Avola , Faro DOC , Sicillia , Italy
The “Obli'” is the pride of Enza La Fauci. It’s her top wine coming from the Faro DOC from the province of Messina and made from a blend of 60% Nerello Mascalese, 15% Nocera, 15% Nerello Cappuccio and 10% Nero d’Avola grapes.
Of all the Sicilian denominations, Faro is perhaps the one that is giving the biggest surprises in terms of elegance and expressiveness. Here the Nerello Mascalese, a grape variety that is always linked to the Etna DOC (but which has a very important tradition in Messina), expresses more generous wines thanks to the support of Nero d’Avola and Nocera. Harvested and vinified individually between late August and mid-October the grapes are cold macerated for 10 days prior fermentation.
Aged for 18 months in used oak barrels and 9 months in bottle prior release, this wine shows an intense ruby red color with violet and garnet reflections. Nose is floral, intense with wide hints of plum, blackberries and wood spices. Well structured, harmonious, persistent on the palate, and it is characterized by a never intrusive tannin, which accompanies it towards a beautiful finish, with a clear Mediterranean mark. It is best served in large red wine glasses and pairs seamlessly with red meats, medium aged cheeses and salumi
