Grape: Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot , IGT Toscana , Toscana , Italy
Sapaio, is the winery’s flagship label, born as a Bolgheri DOC Superiore and became Toscana IGT as of the harvest of 2015. A conscious choice made to fairly value the wine and the land that bears it; freeing it from the confines of specific designation and allowing greater freedom and harmony with the territory. This 2016 vintage is a blend of 70% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Petit Verdot & 10% Cabernet Franc. It’s so vivid and polished on the nose, showing blackcurrant, blueberry and lavender aromas that follow through to a full body, firm and very silky tannins and a long and flavourful finish. A well-balanced, fragrant and absolutely seamless wine that although it will get better with age, is already gorgeous to taste. Manual harvest and grape selection are followed by a long maceration and then fermentation in controlled temperature stainless steel tanks. The wine ages in French oak barriques for 18 months. Followed by 12 months of bottle refinement prior release
