The Dark Side Of The Moon« is Pink Floyd's eighth longplayer. The album was originally released on March 24, 1973. The recordings took place between June 1972 and January 1973 at London's legendary Abbey Road Studios.
The concept album is Pink Floyd's most successful record. She stayed in the international charts for several years and has sold over 50 million copies to date. London, 19 January 2023 – It is one of the most iconic, influential and best-selling albums of all time: »The Dark Side Of The Moon«.
On March 24, it will be exactly 50 years to the day since Pink Floyd released their groundbreaking work in Germany (March 1 in the USA / March 16 in the UK). This special date will be celebrated with the release of a new deluxe box set, which will be released by Warner Music on March 24, 2023.
»The Dark Side Of The Moon« has lost none of its popularity to this day and continues to fascinate new generations of listeners: inside. Pink Floyd developed the album partly as part of their live performances, which led to an early version of the suite having its live premiere at London's Rainbow Theatre a few months before studio recording began. »The Dark Side Of The Moon» is the eighth studio album by Pink Floyd and was recorded in 1972 and 1973 at EMI Studios (now Abbey Road Studios) in London. The iconic record cover, on which a white beam of light refracts in a prism in the spectral colors, was designed by Storm Thorgerson of Hipgnosis and drawn by George Hardie. »The Dark Side Of The Moon« has sold over 50 million copies worldwide.
The new deluxe boxset includes the CD and flip cover vinyl of the 2023 remastered studio album, as well as a Blu-Ray + DVD with the original 5.1 mix and remastered stereo versions. On another new Blu-Ray there is an Atmos mix of the album, plus CD and LP versions of »The Dark Side Of The Moon - Live At Wembley Empire Pool, London, 1974«. A complete overview of all configurations can be found below.
»The Dark Side Of The Moon - Live At Wembley Empire Pool, London, 1974« will also be available separately on CD from 24 March and for the first time ever on vinyl. The live recording was made in November 1974 as part of the band's winter tour and is now available for the first time as an independent album. The cover shows a line drawing created by George Hardie in 1973.
