Salvador Batlle Barrabieg wants one thing on your mind when you think of his wines: his deep respect for the environment where he grows his grapes. Working in two very different Catalan region —Alt Emporda (the village of Agullana) and Baix Penedès (the village Sierra de Montmell)—his focus is on the purest possible expression of the varietals, crafting wines with low intervention and the utmost reverence for the land, which he tends with patience and passion.
A zippy Muscat Alexandria orange wine from 24 year-old vines growing in sandy and granite soils. Hand harvested and then “very lightly” crushed with feet, because romance isn’t dead.
Fresh and medium-bodied, with notes of orange blossom and peach preserves. Spontaneous fermentation with native yeast in stainless steel tanks, aged on fine lees for three months. Bottled unfined and unfiltered.
