The organic Mavrodaphne "Monabeles" by
Evryviadis Sclavos belongs to its own
separate class. Muscular and strong, it is at
the same time absolutely likable and
unavoidably attractive. Power and
concentration do not attack the mouth
violently but build gradually, letting the
elegance emerge alongside the high-
frequency vibrations and tensions. It is
perhaps the most emblematic wine of
Evriviadis, the first attempt to produce a dry
Mavrodaphne in Greece in 1996. It comes
from prophylloxeric vines, in Monabeles and
Kehrionas, aged 80 years, and is produced
with faith in the philosophy of biodynamic
cultivation and natural winemaking.
