HELLENIC HYPERMARKET SKLAVENITIS S.A. is a purely Greek company in the retail sector, specializing in food, fast-moving consumer goods, and durable products.
It operates 459 stores, 4 eMarket Order Distribution Centers, and 7 Distribution Centers across Greece, serving an average of 683,000 customers daily, employing 35,101 people, and collaborating with more than 3,000 suppliers from both Greece and abroad.
The company’s history dates back to 1954 in Petralona, when brothers Spyros and Giannis Sklavenitis and their friend Miltiadis Papadopoulos founded a business engaged in the wholesale trade of food to grocery stores, as well as the packaging and distribution of spices in cartons.
In 1967, leveraging a new means of communication at the time—the telephone—they created TILEXYP, the first telephone ordering company in Greece, and in 1971 they opened the company’s first supermarket, located at 80 Kifissou Avenue in Peristeri.
Over the following years, the company grew steadily, while remaining faithful to the Principles and Values established by its Founders: striving always to offer products of excellent quality at prices “as low as nowhere else,” to provide courteous and prompt service, and to contribute to the progress of society.
